Juhannus - Midsummer

Finland celebrated Juhannus (Midsummer) during the weekend of the 20th of June.
The Finnish people usually spend their weekend with their family and friends at home or at the mökki (summer house). The main point is to enjoy the fact that it doesn't get dark during the night. In the evening, traditionally, the Fins light a big fire, called a kokko.

Seinäjoki

Hello everybody!
I had a wonderful week in Seinäjoki visiting my boyfriend. We spent our time enjoying hanging out together and with other exchange students.
One of the days, we went to visit Ähtäri zoo. This visit was organized by AFS for the exchange students in the area.

Indonesian maailta - country evening

School's out

School is over!
Friday was the last day of school. To commemorate the end of this part of my exchange, the school gave me a very nice bracelet. It was an emotional but fun day.

On Saturday, it was the graduation ceremony for the third graders. I sang with the school choir.
Each student received a rose and a special cap. Originally, the students wore the cap during summer vacation, but nowadays they mostly wear it during academic ceremonies and the 1st of May celebrations (Vappu). I bought a cap too, as a memory.
