Summer vacation - Part III

Hi!
This is the last part, I promise!

The final stop of our summer vacation was Tampere, a.k.a. my Finnish home. I was quite nervous for this because it was the very first time my Belgian mom would meet my host families, friends and my Finnish life. It turns out I had nothing to worry about because everybody got along nicely and my mom actually likes my Finnish life. For me, this was the best part of the trip, especially because I got to celebrate my 20th birthday there. Having my Belgian mom and both my host families at the same table was an amazing experience and I am so grateful it happened! It most definitely was an awesome birthday to never forget!

Summer vacation - Part II

Hi again!

The second part of my mom's and my summer vacation was a boat trip from Stockholm to Helsinki. It was wonderful to enjoy the beautiful landscapes. And it was also fun to travel differently than just by plane or train.

Once my mom and I arrived in Finland, we took the train from Helsinki to Turku pretty much immediately. Turku is Finland's oldest city and was the capital while the country was under Swedish ruling. So, the city has an interesting history which is still very much reflected in its architecture. Unfortunately, we couldn't visit much because it was raining almost all the time and we were exhausted.

Summer vacation - Part I

Hello everybody!

How is your summer so far?
I have been quite busy the past few weeks. I did take some time off though. I went to Sweden and Finland with my mother. It was an amazing trip!

The first stop was Stockholm, Sweden. My mother and I have been to this wonderful city a few times already but every time we still discover something new. This time we discovered a neighbourhood with little shops, including a little bakery where we bought delicious bread, and a French cheese shop. Stockholm has a particular charm that we appreciate over and over again, and the atmosphere there is very relaxed and cheerful which I love. Plus, the architecture is very pretty.
